The group's commitment

Our Manifesto

The very act of eating becomes a search for experiences, connections with traditions, memories, and the people we love.

Italy eats when it’s hungry for emotions. That’s why we decided not only to sell good food but also to create moments meant to last, where anyone can be the star.

We want to put experiences and expectations on the fire, bringing to life a place where flavors speak of identity and territory, people are the salt, and sharing is the natural side dish.

All this means eating to us.

This is the story you’ll find at our table.

The commitment to people, the environment, and the community in which Il Mannarino, Rosita, and Veramente operate must be shared at all company levels and respected by all stakeholders.

The commitment the group has decided to undertake with the following code refers to the SDGs, particularly Goal 12: Responsible Production and Consumption.
“Companies adopt increasingly conscious sourcing systems by selecting and monitoring their suppliers to maximize positive impacts and minimize negative ones on the environment, people, and the economy.”

Based on this principle, the group actively commits to considering environmental and social certifications obtained by its partners as merit conditions, and therefore preferable, which will be subject to special review during the selection process. In particular, this policy applies to:

● Food and raw material suppliers
● Packaging
● Office supplies
● Cleaning supplies

For this reason, the group commits, through this document, to constantly share its policies and practices necessary to respect the actors described above with its suppliers and to verify their implementation through periodic checks, at least every two years. We want to publicly share this document to offer our clients maximum transparency.

The Commitment of Our Partners

The group’s suppliers represent the foundation of this value chain with their products and services and, by signing this code, commit to respecting all responsible sourcing practices required by the company and to being directly responsible for their social and environmental performance.

All the group’s suppliers must comply with the code and ensure that their subcontractors (if any) and any other third parties involved on their behalf operate in full compliance with it.

The Supplier Code is designed based on the group’s code of ethics and follows its core values and internal control and management regulations.

The Supplier Code follows the impact assessment standards of B Corp, which are considered and integrated into the company’s performance through the SDGs Action Manager.

Scope and Content

All group suppliers, by accepting this code, commit to applying and respecting the guidelines contained within it, with a focus on environmental, social, and economic sustainability.
The goal is to create valuable business relationships that generate multiple benefits for both the company and the supplier. The group is aware that implementing some provisions may take a long time and be costly. Compliance with this code will be assessed considering the diversity of individual partners and the specific context in which they operate. In any case, Veramente expects suppliers to commit to reporting any partial non-compliance with this code to the company.

Supplier Selection

The following subparagraphs will be subject to specific analysis during the selection and audit of potential or current suppliers.

Compliance with Current Regulations

The group is committed to environmental compliance throughout the entire production chain and expects the same from its suppliers. They must adhere to current environmental laws and requirements, which include, among others: obtaining and maintaining environmental permits and approvals for regulated activities; managing and disposing of hazardous materials; controlling emissions of contaminants that impact air, water, and soil; protecting natural resources and wildlife; prohibiting or restricting the use of specific substances; recycling materials; and respecting environmental rights.

The use of hazardous substances by suppliers must comply with legal requirements; in particular, they must prohibit the use of substances banned at national and international levels due to their harmful effects on people or the environment, and they must implement appropriate measures for the management, storage, and transportation of hazardous substances.

The group positions itself as a facilitator in complying with the above rules and, together with the supplier, sets expectations and goals to be achieved within a chosen timeframe, usually no more than two years, in order to improve and perfect social and environmental performance.

Best Practices

The group is careful in choosing its suppliers, the environment, and how they operate. For this reason, we want to ensure that the partners we collaborate with act in compliance with current regulations, not only from a regulatory standpoint but also regarding environmental and social impact.
Furthermore, we verify that our suppliers have internal policies related to ethics and corruption and that these are managed with common sense.

Our partners should share the group’s quality standards and vision. For this reason, we would like our suppliers to adopt best practices that go beyond regulatory requirements or to hold certifications (carried out by third parties) regarding social and/or environmental performance.

Environmental Issues and Data Measurements

The group requires its suppliers to meet standards related to the production and disposal of solid waste, as well as the presence and use of chemical agents (as established by current regulations).

Areas of Intervention

The following paragraphs describe the scopes of application of the Supplier Code. Each point includes a series of activities that require specific control procedures and programs. Suppliers commit to collaborating with the group on each of these points.

Work

The group adheres to the B Impact Assessment standards as a Benefit Corporation regarding health, economic well-being, social well-being, and worker safety.

Suppliers commit to respecting and upholding workers’ human rights and to treating them with dignity and respect, ensuring equal opportunities for every employee based on meritocratic criteria, as required by the International Community and the standards mentioned above.

If any non-compliances are found, the group will mandatorily request the necessary documentation and may proceed with on-site inspections.

Specifically

Prohibition of Forced, Compulsory, and Mandatory Labor

The group’s supplier opposes any form of forced labor as defined by the International Labour Organization (ILO). It condemns and does not apply any type of forced or compulsory labor, including forced prison labor, debt bondage, coercive labor, and modern forms of slavery.

The group’s supplier commits to ensuring that all employees enjoy freedom of movement and are not restricted by physical restraints, abuse, or threats. Workers’ identity documents, passports, government-issued work permits, or valuables must not be withheld.

All work performed must be voluntary, and the contractual relationship can be freely terminated in accordance with the notice periods specified in the signed contract. All workers must be informed of the working conditions and must be paid regularly.

Prohibition of Child Labor

Group suppliers may not hire workers below the minimum working age (based on ILO standards) and must respect the social and legal work context of each country, where a higher minimum age may be required.

Harsh and Inhumane Treatment

Workers must not be subjected to harsh or inhumane treatment such as sexual harassment, corporal punishment, physical or mental coercion, or verbal abuse, nor should there be any threats of such treatment.

Physically Demanding Work

Workers’ exposure to physically demanding tasks must be assessed and monitored, including manual handling of materials and heavy lifting, prolonged standing, and performing highly repetitive tasks or forced monitoring duties. When such tasks are present, necessary corrective measures must be implemented to eliminate and/or minimize their negative impacts as much as possible.

Working Hours

Group suppliers must comply with national and international standards regarding working hours.

They must grant weekly rest periods, annual leave, national holidays, parental leave, sick leave, and any other type of leave as permitted by law.

The workweek, including overtime, must not exceed the legally permitted number of hours and at least one day of rest must be guaranteed for every seven-day week.

Fair Wage

Workers’ wages must comply with wage laws, including regulations on minimum wage, overtime pay, and allowances as prescribed by national and international law.

Any wage deductions must comply with local legislation, and the terms and methods of payment must be communicated to workers clearly and promptly.

Particular attention is given to monitoring policies and initiatives by the supplier aimed at reducing the Gender Pay Gap, if present.

Health and Safety

A healthy and safe work environment promotes the quality of products and services, production consistency, and the physical and mental well-being of workers.
Veramente’s suppliers commit to complying with national and international standards to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

Workplace Injuries and Illnesses

Procedures and management, monitoring, and reporting systems for workplace injuries and illnesses must be established. These should include provisions for:

● Encourage reporting of injury and/or illness cases without fear of retaliation against the worker
● Classify and record such incidents
● Provide necessary medical care
● Investigate individual cases and implement corrective actions
● Facilitate workers’ return to the workplace

Machine Protection Systems and Industrial Hygiene

Physical guards, interlocks, and barriers must be installed on machinery used by workers, and these must be regularly maintained appropriately.

It will be necessary to identify, assess, and control workers’ exposure to potentially harmful chemical, physical, and biological agents and to act promptly in case of non-compliance.
If it is not possible to adequately control potential risks with technical and administrative measures, workers must be provided with appropriate personal protective equipment.

Security

Workers’ exposure to workplace safety hazards must be controlled through appropriate design, technical, administrative, and preventive maintenance measures.

To minimize risks, employees must have access to appropriate protective equipment, provided free of charge by the employer.

Group suppliers also commit to disseminating safety information at all levels, providing specific training courses, and creating adequate systems for detecting, monitoring, analyzing, and eliminating any critical issues.
If this is not possible, workers must be provided with appropriate personal protective equipment.
The construction and maintenance of work facilities must comply with the standards, regulations, and laws in force regarding safety.

Operational Readiness and Emergency Response

Group suppliers must be prepared for emergency situations, which must be identified and assessed to minimize their impact.
For this reason, emergency plans and worker response procedures must be adopted, including: emergency reporting, employee notification, worker training and evacuation drills, appropriate fire detection and suppression equipment, compliant exit structures, and recovery plans.

Diversity and Inclusion

The group makes diversity a strength by valuing and investing in social inclusion projects through work.
Gender, cultural, linguistic, and sexual orientation differences are not seen as obstacles but as valuable opportunities for dialogue and exchange, positively impacting the work and private environments of employees and the entire community. This core value must be shared by all suppliers, who must adhere to and operate in this direction. The group commits to rewarding suppliers who track diversity within their workforce and also to rewarding suppliers whose ownership belongs to populations underrepresented in the workforce.

Specifically

Non-Discrimination

Group suppliers must not discriminate in hiring or workplace and compensation practices based on gender, ethnicity, social origin, sexual orientation, age, disability, political opinion, religious belief, or union membership.

Diversity and inclusion must be valued in accordance with the group’s core values, and by collaborating with the company, suppliers can implement projects and set improvement goals in this direction.

Group suppliers will adopt the necessary measures and actions to identify, prevent, and reduce any discrimination they may cause or have caused in relation to their business agreements.

Gender Equality

The group’s supplier formally commits to promoting female representation within the company regarding access to managerial positions, pay equity, paid parental leave, and the handling of gender discrimination complaints.
The group’s supplier commits to providing anti-discrimination training to its employees.

Privacy

Group suppliers must act in accordance with current laws regarding the protection of privacy and sensitive data.
They must protect personal data and the privacy rights of the workers themselves.

Environment

Environmental responsibility and protection are an integral part of the group’s values, which is committed to respecting nature and the territory in which it operates, with a focus on resource conservation for future generations.

The group encourages its suppliers to collaborate in minimizing the environmental impact of their production chain, aiming to build environmentally sustainable supply models that are economically beneficial for both the supplier and the company in the short and medium term.

Specifically

Chemical and Hazardous Materials

The group requires its suppliers to inform us (with attached documentation) if and to what extent they are aware of any chemical residues within their products, and whether their production processes use materials or chemicals that could alter the integrity of the final product.

All chemicals or other materials that, if released, could be harmful to the environment must be identified and managed in order to ensure the safety of handling, transportation, storage, recycling, reuse, and disposal of the goods.

The company collaborates with or requires its suppliers to collect data and provide information on the presence and use of chemical agents in the supply chain.

Solid Waste and Wastewater

Solid waste and wastewater generated from activities, industrial processes, and sanitation facilities must be monitored, controlled, and treated as required by law before being discharged or disposed of.
The company collaborates with or requires its suppliers to collect data and provide information on waste generation in the supply chain.

The group also asks its suppliers, where possible, to implement initiatives for reducing solid waste at the source, or to divert it from landfills or incineration.

In the case of poor solid waste management, Veramente commits to assisting its suppliers in improving it through corrective actions to meet the legal standards set.

Measurement of Emissions

Special attention must also be given to monitoring emissions from the transportation of goods, which should be controlled and reduced as much as possible through the use of low-impact logistics systems, prioritizing the choice of local suppliers whenever possible.

The group places great importance on the development of its local community and, whenever possible and under equal conditions, is committed to selecting more than 50% of its suppliers from independent businesses located within an 80 km radius of its headquarters.

Water Resource Management

The group requires its suppliers to collect data and provide information on water consumption.

Depending on the ability of individual suppliers to obtain data, Veramente commits to monitoring and analyzing the following data and setting improvement goals with each supplier.

Environmental Permits and Reporting

All necessary permits (e.g., monitoring of discharges and emissions) and environmental records must be obtained, managed, and updated. Operational and reporting requirements set by the company must also be complied with.

Pollution Prevention and Resource Reduction

Waste of any kind, including water and energy, must be reduced and/or eliminated at the source or through more sustainable practices such as modifying production and maintenance processes, substitution, conservation, and recycling.

Biodiversity Protection

The company requires its suppliers to collect data and provide information on any potential impact of the supply chain on environmental biodiversity.

The group recognizes and values the commitment of suppliers who respect and protect the biodiversity of the territories in which they operate and throughout the supply chain.

Specifically, special attention will be given to land protection, reforestation, land use management, and indigenous communities. There is zero tolerance for land grabbing.

Animal Welfare

The group’s supplier must adopt good animal welfare practices with a focus on continuous improvement, aiming to minimize the environmental impact of their farming and/or production.

Sustainable Packaging

The group’s supplier commits to researching and implementing measures to minimize the environmental impact of their product packaging by using sustainable packaging whenever possible: recyclable, eco-friendly, and certified by third-party environmental certifications.
Unnecessary packaging, especially from non-renewable sources, must be limited; furthermore, reuse and recycling of packaging should be encouraged.

Energy Efficiency

The group’s supplier will adopt the necessary measures to minimize energy consumption and define energy-saving strategies such as using energy from renewable sources and/or on-site production.

Ethics

Our suppliers must align with the values and principles of utmost transparency that Veramente has always applied at all company levels.

Prohibition of Corruption, Extortion, or Misappropriation

The highest levels of integrity must be respected in all business interactions.
Any form of corruption, extortion, or misappropriation is strictly prohibited, under penalty of immediate termination of the collaboration and, if necessary, legal action.

Disclosure of Information

Information regarding the company’s activities, structure, financial situation, and results must be disclosed in accordance with current regulations and industry practices.
Bribes or other means intended to obtain improper or undue advantages must neither be offered nor accepted.

Fair Business Practices, Honest Advertising, and Fair Competition

Standards of fairness and integrity must be upheld in business operations, advertising activities, and competitive practices.
Systems must also be established to protect customer information as required by GDPR regulations.

Reports

Programs must be established to ensure the confidentiality protection of those within the company who report irregular and/or unethical situations between the group’s supplier and its employees.
In line with the principles of the group’s code of ethics, values, and internal control and management regulations—specifically referring here to the whistleblowing policy applied to all its stakeholders.

Management and Control Systems

The collaboration the group requires from its suppliers goes beyond compliance with environmental and social standards; it aims to create and enhance partnerships based on trust and transparency.
The group expects timely and detailed communication of any code violations, and this paragraph outlines the methods for monitoring and controlling compliance.

Monitoring and Reporting

Group suppliers must adopt a management system related to compliance with the principles contained in this code, including improvement objectives, policies, and internal control procedures.

The management system must be formulated so as to ensure:
● Compliance with the supplier code
● Identification and reduction of operational risks related to this code
● By adhering to this code, the supplier formally takes responsibility for its social and environmental performance. The supplier code represents a tool for continuous improvement to make the commitment to the environment and society concrete.

Quality control

To ensure high and consistent quality standards, the group reserves the right to carry out sample checks or annual inspections on purchased goods.

Support for Suppliers

The group commits to identifying suppliers with potential training needs and/or those wishing to improve their social and environmental performance and impact, and pledges to provide its expertise to achieve this goal. This activity is carried out both generally and, especially, in cases of detected non-compliance.

Control System

Supplier Interview

The group wishes to maintain constant communication and updates with its partners; for this reason, there is a dedicated channel where suppliers can leave reports or suggestions regarding their satisfaction or other relevant issues. To access the channel, contact the supervisor.

The group expects full cooperation and trust from its most virtuous suppliers during auditing activities, to intervene promptly in case of issues and support its suppliers with targeted improvement measures and assistance in impact areas where it can offer its know-how.

Engagement System: Measures

If any non-compliance issues arise, either declared by the suppliers themselves or identified by Veramente according to the auditing procedures specified in the “Control System” section, the supplier will be required to plan specific corrective actions.

The supplier will have a reasonable period of time to resolve the issues and report on the corrective plan implemented along with the related timelines.
The company is available to provide appropriate guidance and information for its resolution.

The measures taken must lead to the elimination of the issues; otherwise, in the most serious cases of non-compliance or violation of the code, Il Mannarino, Rosita, and Veramente may terminate all contractual commitments.

Supplier Commitment

The Group’s supplier formally agrees to and accepts the principles and rules contained in this code to contribute to and cooperate with the internal control and audit systems specified in the Supplier Code. They commit to providing, if requested, certifications and/or specific documents that attest to their commitment and compliance with the standards required by Veramente.

This code may be communicated and integrated at all levels of the supply chain.
